When Jan and Marijke decided last year to leave their busy life in the Netherlands behind, they knew they were searching for something better: a place where the sun shines more often than it rains, where the air is pure, and where the days flow by in a relaxed manner. Their search led them to the Costa Blanca, and within weeks, they knew for sure: this would be their new home.
On their first morning in their new home in Moraira, they woke up to the soft sound of waves and a warm breeze rustling through the palm trees. In February, while their friends in the Netherlands were scraping ice off their car windows, Jan and Marijke were already enjoying a cup of coffee on their terrace in a pleasant 18 degrees.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the climate of the Costa Blanca is one of the best in the world, and they quickly found out why. With over 300 sunny days per year, they could spend almost every day outside, whether it was a morning walk along the beach or a cozy lunch in a picturesque mountain village.
